FARZI CAFE, NEW DELHI
Located in the Connaught place, business centre turned food hub, this restaurant was designed for 'the prince of Indian cuisine'- Zorawar Kalra, who with his father Mr. Jiggs Kalra established 'Massive Reastaurants Pvt. Ltd.' with an aim to develop India’s premier brands of restaurants that specialize in targeting all segments of the market, while showcasing the evolution of Indian cuisine and putting Indian food on the global palate permanently.
This project was challenging in all aspects of design & execution. With such an energetic and young client, everything had to be on point. The design concept was to create an open-to-sky, semi-garden space which is vibrant yet classy, a space can be considered for business meetings yet be a place to grab a drink with friends in the evening. Wooden cladding renders warmth to the space, the central water body with planters above make it the focci. The bar, with the lase cut MS jali adds design indian-chick factor with the customized, simple 'tokri' lights above it .
As my first independent project at the firm, I learnt to survey sites, communicate with clients, deal with contractors & project managers, while developing the design with Ms. Saheba, turning ideas in to reality while keeping a check of the costs, designs & deliverables and their execution as per design.
